The Dane County Jail is an all adult inmate facility. The Dane County Jail is a medium-security facility in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Dane County Jail received and released inmates daily. Most of the inmates have either just been arrested or they are going through their trial.
The Dane County Jail serves the entire county. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for overseeing the day to day operations at the Dane County Jail.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Sending Money
Inmates, while they are in the Dane County Jail, will need funds to purchase items from the commissary or to fund their phone account.
There will be two ways you will be able to deposit money into an inmate's account.
The first way is to go down to the Dane County Jail. This will only work if you are local to the facility. You will need to have a money order in hand. The Dane County Jail will not accept cash or checks.
The second way is to mail a money order to the Dane County Jail, if you do not live in proximity.
Keep in mind that money orders should be made out to the Dane County Jail and have the inmates name on it.
Phone calls
The Dane County Jail contracts with the CityTeleCoin for their phone service.
To ensure the inmate can call you, you will need to create an account. You will also need to put money on their phone account.
You will be responsible to keep funds in the phone account. If the account runs low or out of funds, the inmate will not be allowed to make any more phone calls home.
All calls from the Dane County Jail will be limited to 15-minutes and the calls will be monitored and recorded.
Visitation
Live local to the Dane County Jail? Want to visit an inmate in the Dane County Jail? You can come on down Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm. Visitation does not happen on Saturdays and Sundays.
Prior to visiting an inmate, you will need to have your government issued. If you are bringing a juvenile under the age of 16, you will need to accompany them for the duration of your visit. They will never be allowed to be left alone under circumstances. You need to be with your child the entire duration you are in the visiting area.
