Sending a Mail/Care Package

The staff at the FPC Alderson encourages the inmates loved ones to keep in contact with the inmate by sending letters to the inmate.

Inmates are allowed to receive 4" x 6" and smaller metered, unstamped, plain white postcards.

Please refrain from sending anything sexual or offensive. All incoming and outgoing mail is inspected by the staff. Also be sure that you include a return address when sending mail to the inmate.

Inmates are also allowed to receive paperback books and magazines that are sent directly to the prison from the publisher. Hardcover and used reading material is forbidden.

Sending Money

In order for your loved one to be able to make purchases from the commissary someone will need to send them some money.

There are three ways that money can be sent to an inmate at the FPC Alderson.

By using this option you will be able to transfer funds into the inmate’s account very quickly, however there is a fee to use this service.

You will need the inmates Inmate's eight-digit register number as well as the inmate's last name (example: 87654321DOE). Be sure to put the inmate’s full committed name on the Attention Line and the Code City is FBOP, DC.

MoneyGram

There is a fee to use this service but you will be able to transfer funds into an inmate’s account very quickly.

You will need the inmates Inmate's eight-digit register number as well as the inmate's last name (example: 87654321DOE).

You will need to enter Washington, DC for the city and state.

Receive Code is 7932. Be sure to enter the inmate’s full committed name for the beneficiary.

United States Postal Service

Money orders can be sent to the prison. Be sure to include the inmate’s full committed name as well as their eight-digit register number.

Phone calls

All phone calls at FPC Alderson are monitored and recorded in federal prison. Inmates are typically responsible for any fees that are associated with the phone calls unless the inmate is making a collect call.

Visitation

Before you are allowed to visit an inmate at FPC Alderson you will need to make sure that you are on the inmates approved visiting list.
