About USP Beaumont

The USP Beaumont opened its doors in 1902. In the 1980’s is when the camp opened. The camp houses its inmates in eight dormitories.

Beaumont, Texas is home to USP Beaumont. The USP Beaumont is a medium security federal prison with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp. There is also a detention center for pretrial and holdover inmates within this facility.

1207 male inmates are housed within this entire penitentiary.

Education

Educational programs such as GED, ESL and Adult basic education id provided for the inmates. Inmates who possess their GED have the privilege to participate in a variety of vocational training.

The USP Beaumont offers reentry programs so inmates may succeed once they are released from prison and reenter the community.

Inmates are also given the opportunity to take parenting classes where they learn to improve in their parenting.

Medical Services

Medical Health Care is provided for the inmates who need it. Inmates also have access to Substance Abuse Treatment Programs to help them overcome and recover addictions.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Books, magazines and newspapers can be sent to the inmate directly from the publisher. Hardcover and used reading material is not allowed.

Inmates at USP Beaumont are only allowed to receive packages from home that contain release clothing and authorized medical devices. Before an inmate is allowed to receive a package sent from home they must have written approval from the inmate's authorized staff member at the prison.

All incoming and outgoing packages/mail is inspected by the institution’s staff. Any mail/packages that the inmate opens will also be opened in front of a staff member of the penitentiary.

Inmates are also allowed to receive letters in the mail from loved ones. The staff encourages family and friends to keep in touch with the inmate. Please do not send offensive or sexual material.

Sending Money

Inmates at USP Beaumont will need their account funded in order to make purchases from the commissary where they can purchase basic day to day necessities.

If you would like to fund an inmate’s account you may do so by one of the three options listed below.

Money Order

There is no fee to use this service but it takes the most amount of time. You will need to send your money order via United States Postal Service.

Western Union

Western Union is an electronic service that can be used from the comfort of your home or smartphone, however, there is a fee to use this service.

The following information will be needed to use this service:

  • Inmate's eight-digit register number & their last name (example: 87654321CRI).

  • Attention Line is the inmate’s full name

  • FBOP, DC is entered for Code City

MoneyGram

The inmate will be able to have the funds available quickly using the MoneyGram option as well.

You will need the information listed below to use this service:

  • Inmate's last name & eight-digit register number (example: 87654321DOE).

  • Federal Bureau of Prisons is entered for the company name.

  • Washington, DC is entered for the City & State

  • 7932 is the receive code.

  • Inmate’s full name is entered for the Beneficiary.

Phone calls

Inmates at USP Beaumont are allowed to make phone calls, however, not all inmates have the same telephone privileges due to each inmate’s restrictions.

The majority of the time the inmate is the one who is responsible to pay for the phone calls unless they are making a collect call.

Keep in mind that all phone calls are monitored.

Visitation

You will need to be on the inmates approved visiting list and approved by the BOP before you will be allowed to visit an inmate. This form will need to be filled out by the inmate then sent to you. You will need to fill out your portion and send it back to the inmate.

Once you are approved you will be able to visit the inmate during the following visitation hours.

  • Friday 8:00am – 3:00pm

  • Saturday 8:00am – 3:00pm

  • Sunday 8:00am – 3:00pm

  • Holidays 8:00am – 3:00pm
