Coos County Juvenile Detention Center, located in Coquille, Oregon, is a medium-security jail that is managed by the Coos County Sheriff’s Department and houses adult inmates.

All of the inmates serving time in the Coos County Juvenile Detention Center are either awaiting trial or have been sentenced to a year or less by the Coos County Court System. The Coos County Criminal Justice Center houses the Coos County Sheriff’s Department, Coquille Police Department, and the 80,000-square foot jail.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates may receive letters, legal mail, and books and magazines publications from publishers only.

To write to an inmate, you need the inmate’s name and DOC number and the name and address.

All incoming and outgoing mail is read by jail staff except if it is labeled legal mail.

All mail should contain a sender’s return address. Mail will be checked before it officially arrives to the inmate. If mail does not pass inspection, the mail will either be returned to sender, or it will be discarded.

Sending Money

If you want to send money to an inmate, you can submit money orders, cashier’s checks, and tax returns made out in the name of the inmate who is to receive the funds. The Coos County Juvenile Detention Center will not accept cash, personal checks, or payroll checks.

Friends and family of inmates can also send money electronically without the use of money orders through JPay.com. Visit JPay.com for your free account and you can send money to your inmate any time. The money will post on their account in 24 hours or less.

Inmates may only receive money from people on their approved visitor list. If you are a friend or family member of an inmate and do not know if you are on their visitor list, please call 541-269-5282 to see if you are. If you are not, you will need to ask the inmate to put you on the list.

Through Securtel, inmates at Coos County Juvenile Detention Center can talk to friends and family at the local rate no matter where they might live.

When you sign-up at Secutel, you will be assigned either a local or long distance phone number to the Securus jail facility. When the inmate calls your new number, the call is redirected to your cell phone and charged at the lowest possible rate charges by Securustech.net.

Securus provides unlimited minutes per month and unlimited calls per month, although Coos County Juvenile Detention Center’s phone rules will have limits on the call times.

Inmate Visitation

All visits are non-contact and conducted through a glass partition. The inmate visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Inmates can have two adult visitors visit at the same time. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Visitors are not permitted to take anything with them to the visitation area other than their ID card.

Visitors must follow a strict dress code and will be denied visitation and asked to leave if they do not. No tank tops, no revealing clothing, no miniskirts, no swimwear, no pajamas. The dress code at Coos County Juvenile Detention Center is considered business casual.
