The Lake County Juvenile Center is a medium-security facility that serves all of Lake County.

Lake County Juvenile Center will house adults only, does not matter if they are male or female. Most of the inmates that come into the Lake County Juvenile Center are inmates who have just been arrested or inmates who are going through their court hearings.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates love to receive letters from their loved ones and to hear what they have been up to while they are finishing out their sentence in the Lake County Juvenile Center.

You can send inmates letters, but you need to ensure that you have your return address on them as well as make sure you do not have any of the following:

  • Drawings

  • Using of Crayons

  • Stickers

  • Stamps, Envelopes, Paper

You should know that all incoming mail will be opened and checked in the mailroom of the Lake County Juvenile Center prior to being given to the inmate it is officially addressed to.

The Lake County Juvenile Center has the right to dispose of any mail that does not follow their guidelines.

Sending Money

Inmates may request you to deposit money onto their books for a variety of reasons. The main reason why an inmate will ask you for money is so they can purchase various items they need/want from the Lake County Juvenile Center commissary or what is also known as the canteen.

The commissary sells the following items:

  • Beverages

  • Snacks

  • Clothing

  • Entertainment Items

  • Personal Hygiene Care

To deposit money into an inmate's account, the easiest way is to come down to the Lake County Juvenile Center with a money order. From there they will be able to collect it and the funds will be in the inmates account within a day or two.

Phone calls

The Lake County Juvenile Center is like most other county facilities in a way that they only provide inmates one way to call home. For an inmate to call home, they will have to make a collect call.

Collect calls are not always the best as they are not cost-effective, but they also cannot be received on a cell phone. For you to receive a collect call, you will need to have a landline installed in your home.

You should also remember that you, the receiver of the phone call will be the party that is in charge for paying the fee for call from the Lake County Juvenile Center.

Visitation

The Lake County Juvenile Center offers its inmates to receive visitors on weekdays, Mondays through Fridays. Visitors are permitted to come into the Lake County Juvenile Center between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm.

Visitors will need to have their government-issued identification card such as their driver’s license to be allowed in to visit any inmate.

If you are bringing a juvenile under the age of 16, they will always need to be accompanied by you during the duration of the visit. You cannot leave the juvenile alone at any given time.

You must consent to being searched prior to being brought into the facility.
